Generation to Generation Sponsors Contest

Back Mountain families will be in focus this fall when the Dallas Harvest Festival hosts a family-oriented photo contest. The contest, sponsored by Generation-to-Generation (G2G), will put local family photos – old and new – front and center and offer cash prizes for winners, too.

Dubbed the Year of the Family, this year’s Dallas Harvest Festival will offer entrants the opportunity to showcase Back Mountain family photos in one of three categories: Best Overall Family Photo, Most Generations in a Photo, and the Most Historic Family Photo. Each category will be recognized with first, second and third place winners.

“We are looking for those special photographs that illustrate our Back Mountain residents enjoying time with their families, multiple generations, and even generations of our founding families that depict another era in our local history,” said Barbara Roberts, committee spokesperson.

The Dallas Harvest Festival Steering Committee will collect the photos for judging a few days ahead of the festival and then showcase the winning photos at the annual festival on Sunday, September 14th, from noon to 5 pm.  G2G is providing the cash awards and other funding to run the contest.  G2G was formed several years ago to bring together various generations in activities that encourage fun, understanding, and the best of wisdom and vitality that each group represents.

The contest is open to anyone, but the subject of the photos must contain at least one past or present Back Mountain resident. The Back Mountain is defined as the communities that comprise the Dallas and Lehman school districts. The setting of the photos does not have to be in the Back Mountain.
